Imitation is Flattery (& Fatal) in ‘Random Acts of Violence’

Todd Walkley is the creator of an R-rated comic book with a cult following, Slasherman. When he and his team embark on a road trip for inspiration, they suddenly bear witness to terrible murders, seemingly imitating his own stories. When the killer turns on Todd and his loved ones, Todd is forced to reckon with the killer and his own artistic responsibility.

Searching for an ending to his beloved comic series, Slasherman, Todd and his team embark on a roadtrip across rural America, promising only to make pit stops at creepy gas stations and sleep at creepy motels. As Todd looks for inspiration, the group suddenly come across several brutal murders, done in the image of his drawings. When the group suddenly finds themselves the target of the killer, well, the ending seems to write itself all of a sudden. I’m honestly not one for slashers, but I do enjoy this modern twist on the genre. I am looking forward to the creative practical effects, the likes of which I haven’t seen since Hannibal the TV series. And as a con-nerd myself, this one sings to my little geek heart.

This is also the directorial debut of Jay Baruchel (This is the End, Man Seeking Woman).

Random Acts of Violence will be streaming exclusively on Shudder in the US/UK/Ireland starting August 20th, 2020.
In theaters & On-Demand in Canada starting July 31st, 2020.
