A young couple agrees to become the subjects of a scientific study of the ‘honeymoon phase’. The two descend into madness as the study proves to be more than meets the eye.
A $50,000 payment for ‘just a study of romance’ should be foreshadowing enough, but if you’re not sold, the trailer gives us just enough uncanny valley to give you chills. You can’t quite put your finger on it, but you’re not fooled by the bright daylight on a serene glass home. The introduction is innocuous enough, a blushing young couple, struggling for money, sign up for a lucrative psychology study on the honeymoon phase. They must be observed in a controlled setting for 30 days, and then they’re entitled to an easy 50 grand. While the first few days seem peaceful and happy, the two quickly descend into madness. They begin to argue as they lose trust for each other. The trailer piques when another study participant, covered in blood, shows up at their door and frantically begs for help. I quite frankly can’t imagine what went wrong here, but am excited to find out.
