A young couple moves into an old, fixer-upper in the remote countryside, when they find a secret room that will grant them any material wish they ask for. The Room is an English-language, French thriller about how dangerous it is to get everything you want.

I loved the premise of this film which was both dark and whimsical. I appreciate that it didn’t try to explain too much, but on that same note, the film fell short on both story and character development. Instead the film opts for long-winded montages of decadence and madness, most of which you’ve already seen in the trailer. By the time the shit hits the fan, I couldn’t be bothered to like or care about our main characters. The film does pull itself together in a mind-bending and heart-racing 3rd act and does manage to redeem itself by the end.

The Room will be available on VOD, Digital, DVD and Blu-ray July 21st, 2020.
