A 666-Character Review of ‘Bliss’

Struggling artist Dezy (Dora Madison) has no way to pay rent, no motivation to finish her latest piece, and just got dropped by her agent. So, naturally, she turns to drugs! What unfolds over the remaining 70 minutes is a repetitive loop of snorting, painting, blacking out, and…oh yeah, lots of violent, bloody killings.

Joe Begos returns with his third feature film, chock full of gritty 16mm imagery, disorienting and nauseating camera movement and lighting, and his signature use of practical effects. Oozing with style and carried by a solid lead performance, Bliss will satisfy both the gore hounds and the art-house audiences. Definitely check this one out.

Bliss will be available in limited theaters and on VOD September 29th, 2019.
