Osgood Perkins, son of Psycho star Anthony Perkins, has arrived with another feature length film. (If you haven’t seen it, please go check out his 2015 film, The Blackcoat’s Daughter). Gretel And Hansel is a new twist into the classic childhood folktale. Gretel, a 16 year old girl, leads her younger brother, Hansel, into dark woods in order to find work and assist her poor parents back home. Unfortunately, they come across the path of an evil witch, who has sinister plans for the two children.
From the short, minute-long teaser, we can see this movie is filmed gorgeously, with a haunting and disturbing score. The images and music paired together are sure to creep into your mind and leave you feeling uneasy and terrified. Starring Sophia Lillis (HBO’s Sharp Objects), newcomer Sam Leakey, and Alice Krige (The OA), this film will be released by Orion Pictures. Keep your eyes peeled for this promising film being released on January 31st, 2020.
