When a group of escaped convicts crash a family’s weekend trip, Becky takes it on herself to fight back. It’s part home-invasion and part revenge. The movie excels as a vehicle for violence, showcasing a lot of gruesome hits, but the story stumbles a lot and robs the movie of much of its promise. The convicts are neo-nazis, but it doesn’t inform the narrative. They’re after a key with a symbol (both unexplained) that was kept in the basement of a house they have no discernable attachment to. What we end up with is Kevin James conjuring a surprising amount of menace to antagonize a violent teen girl. It’s bloody, it’s visceral, it’s just not much of a story.
