Florida Man ‘Wrinkles the Clown’ Commemorated with Documentary

In Florida, parents can hire Wrinkles the Clown to scare their misbehaving children.

Do we need anymore clown movies? We had the original It, and now we have the remakes. For those looking for a more graphic approach, we had Art in Terrifier. There’s the camp-fest that is Killer Klowns from Outer Space. (And then there’s part two to that King remake that I still haven’t gotten around to…) But what we’re missing is a documentary.

Enter Wrinkles, the eponymous subject of the film. Wrinkles came into the public eye a few years ago after that outbreak of public clown spottings. Wrinkles was a little different though–the Washington Post reported he is a retired Florida man who offers his services as a horror clown. Parents would hire him to scare their misbehaving children. As you can imagine, the internet loved this and most of the spooky community became well-acquainted with the terrifying Wrinkles.

If you peruse Wrinkles’ Wikipedia page, there are some suggestions that this whole sensation might in fact be a long con film promotion but hell, if it isn’t entertaining all the same. The mask is creepy, the scare business concept is fun, and the trailer watches like an enthralling mockumentary likely to go off the rails at any moment.

Wrinkles the Clown is in theaters and on demand via Magnolia Films starting October 4.
