What sounds more relaxing than renting a barge (houseboat) in the UK countryside, and floating down a narrow channel with your friends and significant other? A douche who constantly complains about lack of cell phone service? Hostile locals who threaten violence against you? Weird hybrid creatures that appear half human, half fish? The Barge People is a low budget creature feature, that is straight forward, ridiculous fun. If you want something campy to watch with a group of friends, look no further. The costumes and creature design remind me of something I’d see in an episode of Goosebumps. Not an Academy Award winner, but enjoyable enough to sit through.

The Barge People comes out on VOD/DVD August 18th.

POS
Absurd premise with fun creatures
Pretty countryside locations
NEG
Not too much meat on its bones
Accents very thick, had to turn on subtitles
