A 666-Character Review of ‘Mon Mon Mon Monsters!’

Morally bankrupt teens bully absolutely everyone in their reach until they find a true monster. They decide to mercilessly torture it for their amusement, unaware of the monster’s sister. mon mon mon MONSTERS is a largely infuriating film where teens are groomed by all around them to ditch consequences and do whatever amuses them. Lin follows the others’ lead despite being ostracized and framed over and over. The only humanity seen is between the two monster sisters as they struggle to survive and support each other no matter what. They eat humans only by necessity and must stay out of sunlight, a mix of vampire and zombie lore. Moments of levity break it up a bit, but the overall mood is soul-crushingly depressing. The ending is surprising and satisfying despite being deeply nihilistic.
