Uncanny Annieis the most recent installation ofInto the Dark, and the second contribution from director Paul Davis. Miles better than his dumpster fire The Body, Annie sits in the upper echelon of the made-for-TV category. The character development leaves much to be desired and the acting performances are inconsistent, but there isn’t a glaring plot hole that forcibly removes you from enjoying the film. They didn’t avoid the pitfalls of the trapped-in-a-game genre, and it’s not a spoiler to say at least one person dies while testing the boundaries of the game. However, the film is enjoyable if you take it at face value. Perhaps the shoddy history of the series left my expectations low, but this is one of their better outputs and worth watching if you’re looking for a dumb fun horror flick.
