Bold Linda pressures Michelle to come to her house after going to all the same fitness classes and keeps Michelle captive when she tries to leave. Homewrecker is a character study of two women in different stages of their lives. Michelle (early 30’s) is so scared of being direct that she goes along with anything. Linda (late 40’s) seems friendly at first, but she’s truly stuck in a deranged teenage mindset, obsessed with her former success. Both of their behavior is shaped by societal expectations. Younger women are expected to be agreeable to their own detriment while older women are ignored and expected to fade into the background. The unexpected moments of humor (including Linda’s rendition of Lisa Loeb’s Stay) and true emotional breakthroughs set this film apart from others like it.

Homewrecker screened as part of the Chattanooga Film Festival 2020.
