A 666-Character Review of ‘Color Out of Space’

Color Out of Space is the newest addition of Nicolas Cage starring in genre cinema; a trend I wholeheartedly support. The very apt title is taken from the H.P. Lovecraft short story, and as you’d imagine, is about an invasion from an extraterrestrial visitor in the form of… a color. Weird concept, I know. Great sense of foreboding and a nice blend of cosmic horror, body horror, and a creature feature. The biggest downside to the film, is its employment of shoddy looking CGI. What the movie may lack in budget and practical effects however, is made up for by another stellar performance from Cage, that feels otherworldly in itself. Definitely worth checking out.

Color Out of Space will have a limited, one-night-only theatrical run on January 22nd, followed by a VOD release on January 24th. (You’ll want to see this one on the big screen)
