Historical Horror ‘Mohawk’ Heads to Home Video

Writer-director Ted Geoghegan‘s new action-thriller Mohawk  has finally gotten an official VOD release date, according to Dark Sky Films. This film will mark the second team-up between Geoghegan and producer Travis Stevens, cinematographer Karim Hussain and Dark Sky Films after the release of their hit film We Are Still Here in 2015. The cast of Mohawk includes Kaniehtiio Horn (Hemlock Grove), Justin Rain (Fear the Walking Dead), Eamon Farren (Twin Peaks: The Return), Ezra Buzzington (Justified, The Middle), Noah Segan (Looper), Robert Longstreet (I Don’t Feel at Home in this World Anymore), Sheri Foster (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Ian Colletti (“Arseface” from AMC’s Preacher), Jonathan Huber, and WWE Superstar Luke Harper making his big screen debut. Mohawk unfolds over the course of one bloody day during The War of 1812:

After one of her tribe sets an American camp ablaze, a young Mohawk warrior finds herself pursued by a contingent of military renegades set on revenge. Fleeing deep into the woods they call home, Oak and Calvin, along with their British companion Joshua, must now fight back against the bloodthirsty Colonel Holt and his soldiers – using every resource both real and supernatural that the winding forest can offer.

This film has been praised as “gripping” and “a wild ride” by Indiewire, and “realistic and very personal” by The Hollywood Reporter. According to Birth. Movies. Death., “[Mohawk] does a fine job of reminding us that sometimes the truest horror is that of our own history.

” “Mohawk” is a gripping and despairing action picture, about how we can’t seem to stop trying to destroy those we distrust – including ourselves.”

-LA Times

“Ted Geoghegan’s swift, slicing thriller Mohawk makes a vigorous case for horror as perhaps the most fitting film genre to capture some truths of American history.”

-Village Voice

“A period-piece action-horror effort with relevant sociopolitical thoughts on its bloodthirsty mind.” -Variety

“With its politically charged themes of oppression and the genocide of Native Americans and the play on how history has been presented in the past, “Mohawk” is a fascinating and engaging tale of bloody revenge.” -The Playlist

Mohawk will be released on DVD and Blu-ray Tuesday, April 10th.
