The End of the World Widens in ‘Train to Busan’ Sequel ‘Peninsula’

Jung-seok, a soldier who previously escaped the diseased wasteland, relives the horror when assigned to a covert operation with two simple objectives: retrieve and survive. When his team unexpectedly stumbles upon survivors, their lives will depend on whether the best—or worst—of human nature prevails in the direst of circumstances.

Peninsula continues 4 years after Train to Busan and delves into very different material: car chases and arena battles with zombies. I’m happy that the world is so open for the new movie but it seems like they’re steering into action movie tropes instead of horror. It makes me a little worried that the class commentary and horror elements will be lost, but I’m still going to watch since Train to Busan and it’s prequel Seoul Station (please watch it on Shudder) were both so good.
