‘M.F.A.’ is Unflinching Look at Campus Rape Culture

After being sexually assaulted, an art student confronts her attacker and digs deeper into campus violence in this timely, unpredictable thriller.

Screening at both SXSW and Overlook, M.F.A. is bringing the latest in rape revenge to the indie festival circuit. Starring Francesca Eastwood (daughter of Clint) and featuring the film’s writer/producer Leah McKendrick, the film also features women in roles behind the camera. Director Natalia Leite and composer Sonya Belousova show that the subgenre doesn’t need to be dominated by men.

Dark Sky Films (House of the Devil, It Stains the Sands Red) acquired distribution rights in June, though further plans for the film have yet to be unveiled.
