Eco-Collapse Leads to Euthanasia Mishaps in ‘Humane’

In the wake of an environmental disaster that is forcing humanity to shed 20% of its population, a family dinner erupts into chaos when a father’s plan to enlist in the government’s new euthanasia program goes horribly awry.

Caitlin Cronenberg (yes, of those Cronenberg’s…David’s daughter), plays inside a near future that tonally feels like a smaller, darker version of Don’t Look Up, in her feature length debut. Unfolding in the span of a day, months following a worldwide ecological catastrophe that has compelled global authorities to put drastic measures in place aimed at decreasing the planet’s population. When the ideas of the New Founding Father’s of America Fail, I suppose…forced euthanasia works? In a high-income community, a recently retired journalist (Peter Gallagher) convenes his adult offspring (Jay Baruchel, Emily Hampshire, Sebastian Chacon, Alanna Bale) for dinner (fish) with the purpose of revealing his decision to participate in the initiative. This doesn’t sit well with the room…and I can’t wait to see the white uniformed chaos that finds this poor family!
Because Bob won’t leave without a second body.

Humane will be available in theaters April 26th
