‘Artik’ Shows Some Hobbies Are Healthier Than Others for Offspring to Take Up

A comic book obsessed serial killer teaches his son how to get away with a series of brutal murders until the boy befriends a mysterious man, Holton, who threatens to expose their horrifying family secret. As Holton gets closer to the truth, he must not only fight for the young boy’s life, but for his own.

Tension, grit, and a bad parent. All ingredients for that make for some enjoyable summer serial killer viewing. From the looks of this trailer, Artik appears to be total chaos, but in steady hands. Controlled and unflinching.

This is the feature debut from Tom Botchii and stars Chase Williamson (John Dies at the End, Beyond The Gates), Lauren Ashely Carter (Jug Face, Imitation Girl), Matt Mercer (Contracted), Gavin White (Black-ish, 14 Cameras) and Jerry G Angelo (7 Faces of Jack the Ripper).

After releasing the only found footage film I enjoyed this year, They’re Inside, the Dread label (Epic Picture’s horror imprint) is quickly growing on me.

Artik will have it’s world premiere on August 11th, at Popcorn Frights Film Fest, and will be available in theaters September 6th, and on VOD/Blu-ray on September 10th.
