Adam Robitel Turns a Game Grave in ‘Escape Room’

Six strangers find themselves in circumstances beyond their control, and must use their wits to survive.

Hitting the screens slightly after the boom of the critical-thinking team-building activity is the aptly titled Escape Room. Director Adam Robitel adds this to his genre credits, currently consisting of the Taking of Deborah Logan and Insidious: the Last Key, with screenwriters Bragi Schut and Maria Melnik. The ensemble cast of Taylor Russell, Logan Miller, Deborah Ann Wolf, Tyler Labine, Jay Ellis, and Nik Dodani will make everyone’s worst fear of a terrible escape room gone wrong a reality. While this could be a tale of claustrophobia, it seems this “room” expands far beyond a typical four walls.

This updated amalgamation of Saw, Cube, and Cabin in the Woods hits theaters on January 4.
