The Foo Fighters rent out an LA home with a dark past as the location to track their 10th album at… and demonic fueled musical madness ensues. Studio 666 is what happens music video director makes a feature length Doritos Super Bowl style commercial. To be fair to BJ McDonnell, it wasn’t the worst one I’ve seen. Looking past the product placement, it’s certainly better than the film he cut his teeth on, Hatchet III. It looked great. CG was surprisingly on point, & the kills gleefully gory. However, the film stumbled in building tension beyond jump scares, & suffered pacing problems. At the end of the night, although I left feeling like I had watched a really long SNL parody of a Blumhouse film, it looked like the Foo boys had fun making this film/fun of themselves. And these days that means more.

True comedic relief from Will Forte & Whitney Cummings
Theme and cameo by John & Cody Carpenter

For a film about the finding the ending to a song, it struggled with its own final act.
Strange lack of...music?
Engine stalls in the third act.
