A 666-Character Review of ‘Creep 2’

Mark Duplass reinvents Josef as Aaron, an upfront serial killer in need of inspiration to continue his life’s work. He ropes in skeptical Sara (Desiree Akhavan) as his new videographer who does not believe his murderous claims. Duplass reaffirms his horror acting chops while Akhavan proves herself worthy as a mumblegore scream queen. Viewers know what they’re in for in this sequel but director Patrick Brice orchestrates a tense 78-minute film to satisfy his fans’ appetites. While not particularly innovative next to the original (the plot gets rehashed for the most part), the film cements itself as a must-watch in 2017 by captivating the audience without SFX.
