A 666-Character Review of ‘Capture Kill Release’

Capture Kill Release is a found footage film that brings viewers into the lives of Jennifer and Farhang, a couple very much in love and very much planning to murder a stranger for the thrill. It’s incredibly uncomfortable and completely riveting. The production places a clear emphasis on authenticity, both in what is filmed and in how, and that authenticity amplifies the whole experience. It twists the unsettling into the utterly disturbing. Jennifer Fraser is of particular note here, in a mesmerizing debut performance as a relentless, detached, and uncannily casual sociopath. Farhang Ghajar holds his own as well, playing the more reasonable half of the murderous couple. It’s a dark premise that feels all too plausible and is carried out beautifully, a must see for fans of the genre.
