‘#Screamers’ Shows Some Things Are Safer Behind Screens

Internet Gurus Tom Brennan and Chris Grabow know what sells on the internet. They’ve built their viral video site gigaler.com into a money-making machine, primarily by providing the audience with web #Screamers – videos that distract the audience then scare them to death. When the two internet gurus investigate the authenticity of a series of these viral videos, they uncover something far more sinister and terrifying about the people behind them.

If you’re looking for a dose of internet-related fear, a missing person mystery, and low budget, found footage vibes, #Screamers is for you. There are some definite Blair Witch Project influences, but based of the trailer, the plot seems to be recrafted and updated in a way to captivate today’s audiences. There will be jump scares and creepy masks (the mask is legitimately freaky), so buckle in.

After making its rounds on the festival circuit in 2016, #Screamers will see a limited theatrical release this year on April 5.
