A 666-Character Review Of ‘Scream: When A Stranger Calls’

The killer’s identity was already widely suspected, and the reveal was so sudden it barely even registered, but none of that stopped Scream’s season two finale from being a fantastic ride. The pacing was remarkably quick, to the point that the episode actually felt short. Everything moves with a unique fluidity, taking off from the ending of last episode into not one but two showdowns—the latter of which is one of the best and most intense scenes for the series. The wrap up lands pleasantly between “we’re done” and “there’s more”, a feat that many serialized stories struggle with. The only real criticism of this episode is its very low body count, a side effect of being so star-driven. There’s still no word on season 3, the questions raised here will be answered in a 2-hour Halloween special.
