A 666-Character Review Of ‘Penny Dreadful: Predators Far and Near’

Vanessa confesses all to Dr. Seward, Lily and Dorian start their revolution, Ethan breaks free from his father, Victor continues to mope, and Jekyll reveals his abilities. Lily and Dorian are the best part of this season so far. Their arrival doesn’t disappoint as they crash a Victorian version of Hostel where the rich pay to see the poor murdered, kill the rich, and save the poor to join their army. Jekyll’s lab and shocking cure were exciting as well as Ethan’s violent escape in wolf form with Hecate. Dracula is revealed to be Dr. Sweet, Vanessa’s crush. He represents the most normal aspect of her life that she’s starting to embrace at a vulnerable time. I’m sad to see this sweet relationship destroyed. The only flaw of the episode is Ethan and Malcolm’s cryptic nonsense that I’m tiring of.
