A 666-Character Review of ‘Jennifer’s Body’

Few films capture the hell that’s teen girl life. But thanks to Karyn Kusama’s direction and Diablo Cody’s script, Jennifer (Megan Fox) and Needy (Amanda Seyfried) are characters full of vim, vigor, and bile. Fox plays Jennifer as a bitch of a beauty who uses Needy, her BFF, to make herself feel—and look—better. But once Jennifer undergoes a life-changing transformation, Fox expertly plays Jennifer as a sly siren who’s out to consume. Seyfried’s Needy also undergoes a notable change; from belittled friend to fighter with a revenge streak. Although the women drive the film, its male cast is phenomenal. From Low Shoulder, a band headed by occult-loving Adam Brody, to Needy’s innocent boyfriend Johnny Simmons. Jennifer’s Body is an underrated horror flick that harkens to the genius of Ginger Snaps.
