A 666-Character Review of ‘Wayward Pines: The Truth’

As the episode’s title might indicate, this episode sheds an unexpected light on the history and context of this strange little town.  When the hour begins, we see Ethan in the woods at the top of the cliff he has just summited; he quickly realizes he is not alone in the woods.  Meanwhile, Ben and two other students begin their ‘orientation’, during which Principal Fisher reveals a trademark Shyamalan.  I don’t want to ruin the reveal, but suffice to say that those who love being Shyamalanned a-la The Village or The Sixth Sense will not be disappointed. The students are instructed to keep this truth from their parents, but, unbeknownst to Ben, Ethan is experiencing the truth reveal at nearly the exact same time. I find myself wondering what tricks are in store for the second half of the season.
