‘Krampus’ Gives the Gift of Holiday Distress

“When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max (Emjay Anthony) is disillusioned and turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers. All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.”

In recent years, it seems that directors have been hunting the perfect representation of this horned, anthropomorphic monster. From rumors of Kevin Smith’s (TuskRed State) holiday anthology, featuring a segment called Anti-Claus, a seemingly terrible film called Krampus: The Christmas Devil, & my current favorite Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale, the Krampus stock is hot. I can’t think of more capable hands for this project to be in, than the ones belonging to Trick ‘r Treat director Michael Dougherty. His focus on nostalgia, & the dramatic switch between comedy & absolute terror always amazes me.

The horror-comedy also stars Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner (Cheap Thrills), Allison Tolman, Conchata Ferrell, Stefania Lavie Owen and Krista Stadler.

Krampus is set to make all your normal family members theatrical experience uncomfortable on December 4th.
