Female Horror Anthology ‘XX’ Offers Compelling Trailer

A horror movie trailer typically evokes one of two feelings for me: “oh god, that looks terrible” or “okay, that might be good.” Rarely, if ever, am I excited beyond belief, purely based on a trailer. Enter XX.
The anthology includes Her Only Living Son (dir. Karyn Kusama, The Invitation), Don’t Fall (dir. Roxanne Benjamin, V/H/S franchise), Birthday Party (dir. Annie Clark a.k.a. St. Vincent), and what I found to be the most intriguing, The Box (dir. Jovanka Vuckovic).
The fact that it is four shorts, all directed by women and starring women, speaks to my feminist self. While historically an under-represented voice within the genre, it’s more recent prevalence is proving to diversify much of what we see in terms of plot, character, and more.
