  1. I love you guys ( and lady), but I have to disagree with you on this movie. I am a fan of the original works, and I was fully open to a new interpretation. But it fell flat for me, it was a dumpster fire of a movie. I just did not like the characters, ( Ryuk was fine ) but damn Light was a little whinging boy, I hated him the most. Much of the plot was based around loose rules holding the believably of the power of the notebook together, it did not stay together well. I also was bored with the final destination like end deaths. I love how it was shot, it was clean, Ryuk looked great ( he was the observant and curious death god I hoped for) and the setting in Seattle was great (PSW rules). It just lacked clear thought and motive. You can watch this without the original in mind and still you get a wispy plot, no character development and blah action. The music choices did not fit, you can’t throw in retro tunes and hope it works. What would have been nice for a new audience to the story surrounding the one fans know so well is to do the characters and plot justice, make it cerebral, make it bloody, and make it new. I would have been thrilled if this version followed just Mia’s view in getting the notebook, seeing what she would do and why. But I have bitched enough,(sorry for a ramble – a tough day at the office means I type this in-between emails ) go watch a condensed version of the original, its worth it. I truly do enjoy your reviews and the cryptids/conspiracies make me happy, keep it up.
