A 666-Character Review of ‘The Faculty’ (1998)

The bitter teachers at Casey’s school suddenly seem content and perfect. When the phenomenon spreads, he suspects that aliens are taking over his school. The Faculty both relies on teen cliques and shows the reality of them. Each main character fits into a stereotype and all are shown to be more than that as the story goes on. It begs the question if they are infected by the alien parasite or if they are showing a different side to them than usual. Piper Laurie and Robert Patrick embody both the hidden menace and the eerily perfect facade of the infected. The practical effects look awesome while the visual effects are a bit dated, but mostly hold up well. The Faculty is a decent teen horror that keeps the suspense and dread high with characters that are constantly questioning if others are human.
