A 666-Character Review Of ‘Pandemic’

Pandemic offers a first-person perspective on the zombie apocalypse; think Resident Evil meets Hardcore Henry. Through environmental cameras (helmet mounted, security cameras, etc.), we follow a recovery team as they blast, bash, and stab their way through plague-ridden Los Angeles in an FPS-style undead murderfest. While the film hangs its hat on action, there is a surprising amount of heart in the final act. The editing is excellent (stitching together this many camera angles into a cohesive narrative is no mean feat), the effects good, and the acting is as strong as it needs to be. While Pandemic offers no surprises, it is an enjoyable spin on the subgenre.
Pandemic is a 2016 film, directed by John Suits, written by Dustin T. Benson, starring Rachel Nichols, Missi Pyle, Alfie Allen, and Mekhi Pfifer. Available on VOD April 1.
