A 666-Character Review of ‘Let Corpses Tan’

Bruno Forzani and Helene Cattet have skirted the horror genre by making a couple Neo-Giallo/Post-Giallo (those aren’t real things) films; Amer and The Strange Colour of Your Body’s Tears. Their third film, and possibly least horror, is Let the Corpses Tan.

Let the Corpses Tan is a Spaghetti Western crime film, created in the style of a Giallo. It’s a relentless, violent, brutal, sexual, psychedelic visual journey. A very simple plot: a group of criminals hijack and rob an armed motorcade, and have a day-long shoot out with a few local police that follow them to their hiding spot. The cinematography and score are some of the best of 2018; gritty, raw, and immersive. Everything is done to absolute perfection, and they turn a somewhat thin story into a fully engaging, cinematic piece of art. So while not technically a horror film, there’s a lot of greatness to take in, and something for most horror fans to enjoy.
