A 666-Character Review of Killing Ground

In the best tradition of Australian survival horror, Killing Ground is the interwoven tale of two vacationing families terrorized by a pair of hog-hunting workaday psychopaths. Writer/Director Damien Power razes a path of death and violence across the Bush, and as the chase escalates, we see normal people reacting in realistic ways to extreme events. There is no glamour here, no slick shots; just a sweaty tooth-and-nail fight for survival from which none will emerge unscathed…if they emerge at all. A stomach-knotting exercise in verite brutality, Killing Ground is one of the latest in IFC Midnight’s recent string of standout genre films. Hunt for it this summer.
