A 666-Character Review of ‘A Bluebird in My Heart’

A Bluebird in My Heart pulls you in from the opening title sequence with it’s visually appealing camera work and colors, to it’s beautiful instrumental soundtrack reminiscent of Explosions in the Sky. The limited scope of two main characters, in a small local setting, really allows the film to dive deep into the character’s themselves. The subtle, nuanced performances add a layer of realism that permits the audience to form their own thoughts and opinions. This is an emotionally draining, very dark, intense drama that reminded me a lot of Prisoners. There are scenes that aren’t easy to sit through, and but the payoff and reward is well worth it in the end.
