A 666-Character Review of ‘UFO Abduction’ AKA ‘The McPherson Tapes’

For those who enjoy the found footage genre of horror films, UFO Abduction, also known as The McPherson Tape, is a worthwhile view, even if only from a historical perspective. As a quarter-century-old movie, this very early foray into the now-popular genre does not hit it out of the park with acting, script, plot, or special effects.  A small investment in improv lessons would have been a worthwhile one. However, it is interesting to note the many devices – now a given in found footage films – that were probably used for one of the first times in this $6,000 budget 1989 flick.  And honestly, any movie with a character named “Ma Van Heese” is worth a watch.
