Will We Finally See Inside ‘Area 51’?

Great films – especially horror films – sometimes must travel windy roads before they make their way to audiences.  Fans have been waiting years to see Eli Roth’s Green Inferno, and Paranormal Activity was actually in the process of being re-made with a larger budget when it was finally distributed. Speaking of Paranormal Activity, the franchise creator, Oren Peli, has been working on another found-footage film since 2009.  Area 51 centers around a group of reporters who encounter unspeakable horrors on the infamous base in the Nevada desert.  After years of questions and waiting, Jason Blum confirmed in a March interview with Matt Donato that the film would soon be released. “The movie is officially done.  I will say that.  There’s no more ‘futzing’ with the production.  I do believe it’ll see the light of day.  It’s been what, five years? I go on the record saying I believe it will see the light of day.” He went on to say that VOD might be a good way to release the film.  Then, on April 6th, Bloody Disgusting reported on a direct tweet to Blum, asking if audiences will ever see Area 51, which was met with an emphatic response.  Blum told Nathan Yocum that, indeed, we will see the film “very very very soon.”  Whether in a theater or on VOD, we can’t wait! Frightday will update you with additional release details as they become available.
