Weekly Watch: ‘The Fly’ (1986)

Weekly Watch is a special series for the month of October. Each Monday we’re sharing a movie, and Frightday staffers will host a live review (shared on our Facebook group) the following Friday.

A brilliant but eccentric scientist begins to transform into a giant man/fly hybrid after one of his experiments goes horribly wrong.

David Cronenberg’s The Fly is one of those times where the remake significantly overshadows the original. Maybe it’s the brutal body horror and terrifying makeup. Maybe it’s the stellar performance from Jeff Goldblum. Maybe it’s the baboon. Who’s to say? At any rate, this one is a must-see for fans of body horror, even if you end up watching through your fingers.

The Fly is available to rent through most streaming services, but can also be streamed through Hulu.
