A group of friends get stranded in a seemingly deserted town and find themselves stalked by a gang of violent psychopaths dressed as clowns.
In terms of genre, Clowntown looks like it’s going to be all over the map. Most obviously, there’s clowns, but it also has a road trip element, small town, abandoned town, “some people don’t believe in…” and a themed gang somewhere between The Devil’s Rejects and A Clockwork Orange. It’s a lot. However, there’s a chance that this mishmash of horror elements will play out as something refreshing and new. It’s very much in the air at this point. Those concerns aside, there’s some basic fears being played with here, and it could turn out to be a surprisingly fun flick. Only time will tell.
