‘Nightlight’ Preview Looks Familiar, But Still Fun

Well, apparently the found footage well has not yet run dry.  The first trailer to ‘Nightlight’ gives a glimpses of a story that has been told before (teens go into a wooded area of urban legend fame, only to find the evil that lives there is all too real) in a format that we have definitely seen before (found footage with an emphasis on dark and tree-blocked shots), but that doesn’t stop me, Kelly, from holding out hope that this indie horror might still pack some scares worth seeing. Trailer viewers get a glimpse of a wolf, upside down crosses, flickering lights in the woods, and bodies being lifted by an invisible hand: undeniably riddled with cliche, but still potentially fun. Directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods are relative newcomers, so it will be interesting to see if they will give us something genuinely scary.  If you are like me and want to see this one, it will be available in theaters and on iTunes on March 27th.
