Netflix’s ‘The Babysitter’ Trailer is a Bloody Good Time

The events of one evening take an unexpected turn for the worst for a young boy trying to spy on his babysitter.

This is one of Netflix’s latest films, an adventure in horror that seems to trade on 80s nostalgia to hook its audiences. And it works, it really works. The premise is a simple one, a kid is in love with his babysitter, his babysitter apparently worships the devil. Throw in the oh so synthy “Tainted Love” and you’ve got an 80s homage to die for.

The overall tone of this trailer has me looking forward to watching this one. There’s also a great cast behind it. Samara Weaving costarred in Joe Lynch’s Mayhem alongside The Walking Dead‘s Steven Yeun, so to see her taking another lead in a horror film is very exciting. There’s also Bella Thorne, Ken Marino (in what I assume is a side part), and Hana Mae Lee. All in all, there’s a lot going for this one, even if it is clearly playing to nostalgia we all may have over young love and the horror of yesteryear.

The Babysitter will be streaming on Netflix this Friday, October 13th, 2017.
