Mumblecorer/Animator Kent Osborne Joins ‘Dismissed’ Cast

We received an extremely interesting press release today. Being the resident mumblecore fan at Frightday, few things make me happier then hearing the words “Kent”, & “Osbourne” next to each other. Dismissed however, doesn’t sound like your typical “Kent” to me. In the film, “an idealistic, straight-laced English teacher (Osborne) is drawn down a nightmarish rabbit hole by an honor roll student (Dylan Sprouse) who will stop at nothing to get an ‘A.’”. If Dylan Sprouse rings a bell, its quite possible that you either have kids, or are one at heart. Dylan gained his fame playing “Zack” in the Disney Channel series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. More importantly, as Julian ‘Frankenstien’ McGrath in the 1999 film Big Daddy.

Dismissed marks the feature directorial debut of Benjamin Arfmann, who previously directed the acclaimed SXSW short “Random Stop.” Additionally Randall Park (The Interview), Chris Bauer (True Blood) & Alycia Delmore (Humpday) have been cast.

Production has began & filming will start later this month in Los Angeles, with world sales on the film being handled by BoulderLight and Bravos Pictures Limited.

Osborne is a well-known television writer, winning an Emmy this year for Outstanding Short-Format Animated program for Cartoon Network’s “Adventure Time.” He was also nominated for 8 additional primetime Emmys, and has been a screenwriter and actor in a number of films associated with the mumblecore movement. He most recently starred in and wrote the indie feature Uncle Kent 2 , which just won the Visions Audience Award at SXSW.

BoulderLight’s latest projects include the CONTRACTED sequel Contracted: Phase II, which IFC released last week, as well as Dementia, also an IFC release which stars Gene Jones (The Sacrament) and Kristina Klebe (Halloween, Proxy) and Uncaged, a werewolf film for the digital age, which Image Entertainment is releasing.
