Bloody Sundance standout Mandy has been acquired by RLJE Films for US distribution and will begin its theatrical run this summer.
Writer/director Panos Cosmatos’ second feature film, Mandy stars Nicolas Cage, Andrea Riseborough (Birdman, Oblivion), and Linus Roache (“Homeland,” “Law & Order”) in a tale of a family shattered by a violent cult. Based on press releases and the film’s poster, it’s safe to assume a few associated buzzwords might be “gore,” “fire,” and “revenge.”
“The best reviewed movie at Sundance is also one of Cage’s most extraordinary performances, reinvigorating our love and appreciation of him,” stated Mark Ward, Chief Acquisitions Officer at RLJE Films. The partnership was negotiated by Ward and XYZ Films, one of the producers of the movie.
Among RLJE’s recent acquisitions in the genre are Mayhem, Brawl in Cell Block 99, and The Houses October Built 2.
