Malcolm McDowell Joins Zombie’s ’31’ and Shooting Begins

What horror actor wouldn’t take the part of a character named Father Murder in a Rob Zombie movie? Stepping 31 up to the next level, director Zombie celebrated the first day of shooting yesterday (March 10th) with an announcement that film legend Malcolm McDowell would be playing the owner of ‘Murder World’ – the location where the unfortunate hostages are held in the film. To give a bit of backstory, 31 centers around five people who are kidnapped in the days leading up to Halloween and held captive at a terrifying place known as ‘Murder World’. In order to survive, they must fight for their lives against an enemy troupe of evil clowns called ‘The Heads’.  Rumor has it that the plot is inspired by the statistic that more United States citizens disappear on Halloween than any other day of the year.

This will be Zombie and McDowell’s third collaboration, the first two being the Halloween films made by Zombie in 2007 and 2009.  No release date yet, but the film will supposedly wrap prior to Zombie’s tour, which begins in June. Fans have the opportunity to help fund 31 through mid-May, by contributing to the campaign on fanbacked.com, here.
