Flawlessness Comes with a Cost in ‘Perfect’

Perfect introduces Garrett Wareing as an emotionally-troubled young man. His mother (Abbie Cornish) sends him to a clinic, where modernist serenity whispers soothing promises of perfection. By planting plug-and-play characteristics directly into his own body, he is relieved of his dark, twisted visions, but his body pays the price for purity of mind.

After last year’s successful festival run including stops at SXSW and Sitges, Eddie Alcazar’s Perfect is ready for its release. While some early reviews paint the film as indulgently high-brow, the trailer looks stunning. The saturated, psychedelic settings are reminiscent of a Mandy shot in space, subbing Flying Lotus in place of doom metal. Body horror promises to step in here as teased by some quick shots of skin piercing, further continuing the new norm of blurring genre lines.

Perfect will see an exclusive VOD release on breaker.io on June 21. Those living in NY and LA can catch the film a month earlier:
May 17: Village East Cinemas (New York)
May 21: Laemmle Ahrya Fine Arts (Los Angeles)
