‘Creep’ Sequel Sneaks October Release

Found footage revitalizer Creep now has a release date for its sequel. The film’s distributor, The Orchard, announced August 30th that Creep 2 will hit VOD platforms on October 24th. The press release stated “all digital platforms,” which provides little clarity as to exactly where it can be found, but one can assume the usual suspects (Netflix, Amazon, Shudder) will carry it.

The sequel has kept mumblecore mainstays Patrick Brice and Mark Duplass around, though Brice’s role will remain solely behind the camera. Duplass comes back as Josef–or whatever his real name is–as he takes on a new victim, Sara (played by Desiree Akhavan), another videographer responding to an online ad. The difference this time around is that Josef readily offers up a key piece of information in his ad–he’s a serial killer.

Brice is elated to bring the sequel to fruition. “The fact that audiences have embraced the first film in such an unexpected way has been so heartening,” he stated. “We hope Creep 2 will bring a new level of fear, discomfort and joy to loyal fans and newcomers alike.”
