A 666-Character Review of ‘Trick ‘r Treat’

Trick ‘r Treat is my favorite anthology film and one that captures the essence of Halloween. Four interlocking stories featuring a twisted principal, an innocent woman, trick or treaters, and a curmudgeon are all in the same town with these characters facing the supernatural and the strange with surprising twists. The way the stories are laid out is brilliant as the world feels so much bigger than the stories shown. The frame story while fairly minor makes the film ends where it begins. Sam ties the whole movie together as a supernatural trick or treater, enforcing the rules of Halloween no matter if a person is good or evil. Although the film can be funny at times, it isn’t afraid to delve into the dark and produce good scares. Trick ‘r Treat is the perfect film to get into the Halloween spirit.
