A 666-Character Review of ‘The Pyramid’

There was a huge opportunity here to bring back underutilized Mummy concept, but it looks like we put our faith in cursed hands. While this film is beautifully shot, colored, & framed, its the abuse of the found footage genre that ultimately buries it. Inconsistencies of camera placements & questionable quality of footage leave this feeling much more like an edited documentary than something found post-tragedy. Characters were flat, & dialogue clunky & unnatural. You won’t often catch me saying this but the final act is unnecessarily brutal. It’s as if on the last day of shooting they were given the “Restricted” all clear. The Pyramid is a loud & dusty mess.
