A 666-Character Review Of ‘Stomping Ground’

After learning his girlfriend used to be a Sasquatch enthusiast, Ben and Annie set off to find the creature with the help of her hometown friends. As a lot of horror comedies go, Stomping Ground is a bit of a mixed bag. The characters and relationships can be very stressful, but it’s punctuated perfectly by Justin Gidding’s show-stealing comedic performance as Jed. The monster doesn’t get a lot of screen time, but the effects are great. The list goes on. Most interesting is that this bigfoot movie isn’t really about bigfoot at all. The story is mostly centered on the relationships, with Sasquatch as more of an ominous, vague presence than a real threat. At only 80 minutes, the film doesn’t overstay its welcome, and makes for a nice enough diversion for anyone looking for a quick monster movie.
