A 666-Character Review of ‘Sequence Break’

Sequence Break, a sci-fi tinged horror film, is the latest exclusive from Shudder. While ambiguity can be used artfully, the plot and resolution could have used a tad more focus. The green, glowing ooze that inhabits the antagonistic arcade cabinet is fun, but its purpose is never quite explained. Acting performances from stars Chase Williamson (John Dies at the End) and Fabianne Therese (Southbound) alternate between uncomfortably awkward and intentionally mumbly. While there is substance here, it hasn’t been fully actualized and would have benefited from more workshopping. If there is a deeper meaning nestled within this film, it is not readily accessible.
