A 666-Character Review of ‘Poltergeist (2015)’

Considering the ’82 version clocked in at about 2 hours, I wish Gil Kenan would have taken note. I left feeling a bit pushed out. As if there was much more potential tension left on the cutting room floor. When matching the original films tone isn’t possible (which it isn’t), I’d rather have seen a ramped up version, i.e., the treatment Fede gave to the Evil Dead remake. All that aside, the film is beautifully shot. If you have the option to see this in 3D, do it. I support you. It’s tastefully done, with some genuinely terrifying moments that the medium made more immersive. Poltergeist is fun enough, but given the source material, could have been much more.
